June Thrivent Builds Worldwide teams at the Tazumal Mayan ruins. Eight volunteers were from Lincoln, Nebraska, led by Mary (Jody) Simeck and ten volunteers were from the suburbs of Chicago, led by Craig Chapello. The Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity Executive Steering Committee built for one day in Villa Esperanza, then were in El Salvador to celebrate with Habitat El Salvador for the 7,000th house celebration. These volunteers were all Thrivent Financial and Habitat for Humanity International employees from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Georgia. Here, they are pictured with the first Habitat El Salvador partner family and Ana Maria Montoya. The family includes Sr. Gumercindo Chávez, his wife Bertha Julia de Chávez, and their children María Teresa, 14 years old, Eduardo Alfredo, 12 years old, Ever Oswaldo, 9 years old, and Jaime Vladimir, 6 years old. A July Thrivent Builds Worldwide team in the van on the way to Santa Ana. This thirteen-person group was led by Tim Bauer with volunteers from Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Montana, California and Indiana. Tom Edelen led a team of ten Thrivent Builds Worldwide volunteers from Colorado, Minnesota, New York, and California.
The team of thirteen volunteers from Minnesota, Michigan, Texas, California, Kansas, and Colorado, led by Carol Pflediderer, was the first Thrivent Builds Worldwide community team to visit Suchitoto for their weekend activity. The last July Thrivent Builds Worldwide team was a large team of eighteen volunteers from Indiana, Minnesota and Ohio, led by Kelsey Midthun and Erin Gladstone.
